Go check out KristieJ's ode to Western set historicals at Access Romance's Readers Gab.

I feel vaguely guilty for avoiding Westerns now. I do look for historicals set outside of Regency England, but tend to skip Westerns unless they come very Very VERY highly recommended.

After reading a post last week at Teach Me Tonight on women writing men loving men, I bounced over to Loose Id and bought a copy of Jules Jones' Lord & Master. Impatient to read it, I didn't even bother to upload it to my ebookshelf and then onto my eBookwise reader; I just read it on the laptop.

Loved the heroes, Mark and Steven, and I absolutely believed in their HEA as I read it. Also really liked the cover, which is one of the best I've seen for an ebook: anime art, rather than awful Poser art. Loved the twisting of a romance stereotype: boss-secretary relationship in the M/M context.

I brought too much baggage to the book to really love, Love, LURVE it, though. It's my fault, though, not a function of the writing itself. Not because of the romance side of it, but because of the office politics. My baggage... )

B for me.
