Slang/usage question: is "scoring" universal slang for getting lucky? I mean, I had assumed so, at least in modern American usage. But I'm reading an old Harlequin Presents set in Australia, where scoring and language usage are the Big Mis between hero (American) and heroine (Australian). I'll elaborate more after I've finished, but I was just wondering.

Scoring is used in Australian vernacular now but I have no idea when that started. I suspect it possibly came from America in the first place like so many of the other words in common usage now.

I assumed that sports metaphors for sex were pretty universal, even if the specific sport varied. Touch down, goal, homerun, etc. In the book, the problem between h/h was based on assumptions and unspoken expectations, rather than vernacular/language confusion.
