Food on a stick
Jul. 22nd, 2006 07:21 pmI manned a booth in the Family Fun Pavilion in Pearlstone Park as part of Artscape from 11am - 3pm, then wandered around the party. First stop: the food court...which was set up on an asphalt parking lot with no shade. The best part of any street festival is always the food; the music comes very close second for Artscape, though. Consumed large quantities of lemonade. And ate Thai chicken on a stick. Anything eaten on a stick is good: meat, vegetables, fruit. And my new personal favorite which should be called Heart Attack on a Stick. Frozen cheesecake, dipped in chocolate . . . on a stick. Oh. My. God. Must observe a moment of silence in memory of its deliciousness.
:sigh: Now that the divinity on a stick has been properly appreciated, back to our irregularly scheduled program. Window shopped at the artists' booths. Really liked some of the pottery, but it was a little spendy and I didn't want to carry it around all afternoon. Do I need a serving platter that will just gather dust in whatever sliver of cabinet space I find to store it? No. There was another potter from Georgia that had work in a gorgeous red glaze. Metal work, jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, paintings, photographs, handmade clothing.
The people watching was fabulous. The clothing choices. The hair. The people themselves.
