How many hotdogs can you eat?
Jul. 4th, 2006 06:11 pmHappy 230th birthday, United States of America!
ETA: I had a graphic of sparklers that someone sent me, but I couldn't get it to work with LJ. So just imagine sparklers and fireworks, please.
We just watched the Italy-Germany match on ESPN. American announcers? Were there no other knowledgable football commentators available? I'm used to hearing the Spanish-speaking announcers on Univision and the other Spanish-language channels, who are much more animated and seem, well, better acquainted with the players on the field.
After the match, ESPN switched to SportsCenter, with coverage of the Hot Dog Eating Challenge. Takeru Kobayashi won for the 6th time, eating 50 Nathan's dogs. I like to have a Hebrew National frank at the ball park, but 50+ at once? My stomach aches at the thought of them. And who knew that there is an International Federation of Competitive Eating. Is that a sport?
Before I head out to the place I have staked out for fireworks: finished A Bit of Rough by Laura Baumbach. A M/M romance. Scorchingly hot. Review to follow sooner or later.
