Happy e-book experience
Jun. 30th, 2006 03:08 pmI bought an ebook last night from Amber Quill. I specifically bought .rb because the html files I've bought download wonky, with all punctuation turning into ?s. When I tried to load it onto my eBookwise reader, I kept getting an error message. Couldn't convert from .rb to .oeb.
So I emailed eBookwise's tech support. Their answer -- can't read .rb documents if they are encrypted. I was pretty sure that the file wasn't encrypted because I read carefully about formatting before buying -- I've read lots of rants and complaints about buying ebooks that can't be read, and I want to avoid that problem. But I checked with Amber Quill to be sure: nope, not encrypted. Ebookwise hasn't responded with an explanation for the problem, since the document wasn't encrypted. But Laura at Amber Quill was awesome and the problem has been resolved.
So, kudos to Amber Quill! An ebook seller that I will be buying from again in the future.
What a contrast to Tuesday's attempt to find the ebook version of Crazy Love.
