I'm kind of disappointed by Bantam/Dell/Randomhouse. I went to their website today to buy an ebook copy of Tara Janzen's Crazy Love, which was supposed to be released today. I could order a paperback copy, and they had a link up for the ebook, but there was no way to buy an electronic copy -- no cart or "buy now" button -- on the page. I've got enough to carry and don't need to add anything else, which is why I was looking for the ebook.

I'm probably going to wait until I can pick up a copy at the library instead now. [I put my name on the hold/reserve list and a copy is waiting for me.] I won't have time to get to a bricks and mortar store until Saturday, and even if I order a paperback online, it won't arrive until then. The library is closer and cheaper. Bummer for you, Dell/Bantam/Randomhouse -- $6.99 that could have been yours will now go to another publisher or be spent on something else.

I had a huge problem last night ordering from Random House. For the record, their ebook vendor site is contentlinkinc.com. Then you have to search by title. It's one of the worst online bookstores. Ever.

Anyway. It kept asking me to activate MS Reader. I kept trying to reactivate my reader (it said that it was activated) but Contentlinkinc never acknowledged that I had it activated. UGH!

Finally, I used a different email address, set up a whole new account, and used Ned's CC and it finally allowed me to buy it. THe whole transaction took me at least 30 minutes. Frustrating to say the least. The worst part? The book sucked big time. Wait till you see the review tomorrow.

Jane

Thanks for the info.

Is the ebook vendor site information listed anywhere on the main site? Stupid question, I'm sure it is, I just couldn't find it. I looked through the FAQ on ebooks and didn't see a link. I'm just unobservant or didn't search properly, I suppose. I assumed that if they had a web page for the ebook, there would be a mechanism on that page to buy directly, the same way you buy a print copy. I'm not sure if that is poor marketing or web design or what.

I clicked on the "contact" link, and got an error message. I've found a direct email address for comments/questions about the website, so I'm sending an email there.
