If you are interested in kitsch, think about coming to Baltimore. This weekend is Hampden's Honfest. You can go see the Best Hon contest (Bee Hive hairdo contest), enter the Hon Run (race while carrying a waitress tray full of stuff), or just people-watch. I went last summer and bought a bag made entirely of buttons. I don't mean buttons sewn onto cloth, but made out of sheets of buttons bound together.

Oh, man. *whine* I'm too busy this weekend to drive up there & it looks like so much fun! And the button handbag sounds too cute.

My older two kids are volunteering at the Faux House (http://www.fauxhouse.com/photo-gallery/index.html). Money raised is to go to Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans to pay for a house (they hope to raise $75, 000). What an excellent idea for fundraising! I work in DC but don't often drive there -- I find the traffic to be horrendous. Maybe on Sunday I'll head down to Arlington.
