I'd like to say this is a political rant, but it is really more of a whine.

While bloghopping this morning, I saw a link to an article online at The New Yorker about The Shrub's plans to invade Iran. [If I can backtrack and figure out who posted the link, I'll give credit, but I've checked the usual suspects and don't see the link that led me to the article. Edited to add: found the link, it was courtesy of KateR.] The two things I find really disturbing, aside from the idea that there are plans being made to involve the US in a third front in the Middle East, are the descriptions of The Shrub: at one point, he is referred to as messianic, and at another an observer indicates that The Shrub is planning this as his legacy, because he doesn't think anyone who follows him will have the nerve to face Iran down. ::eyeroll:: What a good plan. Because we all know what great judgment he has. (WMDs in Iraq, remember?) And really, going to war so you can be remembered as a prez with big balls is a worthwhile thing to do, right? I'm pretty sure he'll be remembered as the president who involved us in the quagmires that occupied Iraq and Afghanistan have become; as the president whose military and defense budget beggared the country; as the president who gifted the wealthiest of the wealthy (his pals) with an estate tax cut, corporations with tax cuts, and made oil companies richer. Bitter much? Yeah, I am.
