I'm slowly reading Holly Black's YA book, Tithe, which I picked up on impulse last weekend at Border's. It's a paperback now, and the size is a little funky -- not really trade but larger than mass market. I liked the cover, which was black bleeding in to a rust color with faint patterns that look like tattoos to me but are probably something more mystical, and iridescent butterfly/faerie wings in the center. Wondered what the hardback cover looked like, so I checked it out at Amazon. Bleh. I probably would never have picked up the hard cover. Does that make me shallow?

What do you think of the covers?

The paperback cover is definitely better; it screams "pick me up and buy me!"
