It's ridiculous for an adult to be so thrilled with the release of a YA book. Just call me immature, though, because I emitted a little squeee of joy when I saw that Megan McCafferty's Charmed Thirds will be released next month. When I read the first two books, Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings, I totally wanted to be a teenager again and to find my own Marcus Flutie. [Ignoring the fact that I knew a real life Marcus-kind-of-guy back then, smart as hell but always completely stoned, and couldn't stand him for a variety of reasons.] So I'm ready to read about Jessica Darling's college years and see what happens with the two of them. Plus, Sloppy Firsts was the first book I read and liked that was told via journal entry.

Re: YA novels
Date: 2006-03-24 07:19 pm (UTC)L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables series
Irene Hunt's Across Five Aprils and Up A Road Slowly
Cynthia Voigt's Tilghman family series (but some I liked better than others)
Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak
MaryJanice Davidson's YA book, which I reviewed here (http://jmcarr2001.livejournal.com/27629.html). Not a Top 10 book for me, but I did like it a lot.
The Witch of Blackbird Pond, which I reviewed here (http://jmcarr2001.livejournal.com/26319.html), which has been a keeper for me since middle school.
Let me think about it and peruse my bookshelves, then I'll either blog about YA books or post a list.
ps -- I have Twilight in the TBR mountain - I think I picked it up after reading your review.
