Going to the well too often?

How often is too often to receive solicitations from a non-profit? I'm asking, 'cause PP just sent me another solicitation. It's probably the third mailing I've received from them this month, plus the weekly emailed updates. Yes, I know bad things are going on in SD and with the Supremes and freedom of choice is being infringed upon everywhere in the US. But seriously, PP, you need to time your solicitations better. The check for my last donation just cleared, literally earlier this week, and yesterday there was another request for more money waiting in my mailbox. How much disposable income do you think I have?

This isn't just a PP thing. I get the same from NARAL and the ACLU...despite the fact that I stopped donating to the National ACLU organization after being verbally abused by a telephone solicitor for them a couple of years ago.

Does the return in donations make these bulk solicitations worth it? It must, or I wouldn't still be getting these letters in the mail.

Defenders of Wildlife is the worst sinner for that in my world. I donate every year, and tell them to save money by not sending me the "free gift with donation" (which they always do anyway), but then half the emails I get from them as a part of wildlife legislation alerts are calls for more money. Apparently I look like I'm made of money.

Phew, I thought it was just me. I gave to a local food bank because I like to know that while I'm giving to the Red Cross I'm also helping here in my city. Holy, crap. I don't know about other people but I am sick to death of being hit up for money. I have people calling and asking if a $45 donation would be alright with me. Uh, no. Okay, would 25 be better for you.

Like you, not made of money. I guess they figure if you have given once (or a few times) then you're likely to give more if they keep at you. It's like getting bills in the mail. I start to dread the packages.
