I had such good intentions.  This month's TBR Challenge was to select a book that had received a Desert Isle Keeper award/review at AAR.  Scanning through the DIK list, I saw The Basque Swallow, which happened to be languishing on my bookshelf.  But instead of reading it, I ended up carrying it around in my bag for a couple of weeks.  I fail at the TBR.

I've told myself I'm not allowed to sign up for anymore challenges cause I always fail. Bad Cindy. Were you just not in the mood for the book or are you in a bit of slump?

Hi, Cindy.

I'm not in a slump really. And the blurb on the book was interesting. But I was just so blown away by Bujold's Horizon that everything else I've tried to read since pales in comparison.

How's your reading going? Four books already? Is your reading slump over? Woo hoo!

I realized you were reading when I went to the next post - teach me to read from the top of the page.

And you have the 'great book blues'. I wallow in those and have to learn to crawl on out of them.

I'm forcing my reading slump out the door. The books I've read haven't been fabulous but they kept me reading so I'm counting that a win. And books are coming in the mail! I'm also leaving books around the house (Bob usually likes them all kept in one room) so that I am reminded of the great books I want to read. Hey, if Bob can have his tools all over the house (okay, he's working) I can have my books every too. That's my story ;)

Well, you didn't miss much by not reading it. I thought it was a pretty silly Mary Stewart wannabe.

I took this book with me on vacation -- went to Spain, and it seemed apropos...but instead it went unread still. I should just give up.

Heh. How was your vacation? I was in Spain earlier in the month for work, we might have been there at the same time!

My vacation was wonderful, thanks! I rented an apartment in Madrid, and did the usual touristy things, took trips to Toledo, Avila, etc. The weather was gorgeous, and it was nice to just sort of wander around without a specific plan.

How's work? Are you working in the UK or Europe, or back in Uruguay?
