I'm not a huge U2 fan. I mean, I enjoy their music, but I don't rush out and buy their albums on release day, and I'm too cheap frugal to be willing to pay the outrageous ticket prices that were charged the last time they came around this way. But U2 3D at the Imax? Rocked. And made me vaguely regretful that I hadn't ponied up to see them live.
I was impressed by their performance and by the quality of the sound and the 3D viewing. The 3D showed best when panning over the crowd or when focused on the drum kit.

I tend to tune out the politics of U2. I admire Bono's passion, but I don't want to be preached at all the time. (I feel the same way about Oprah, thanks. So when he put on his "CoeXisT" bandanna (photo linked here), I kept looking at it thinking, WTH? Muslim crescent of star of david is christian cross? It wasn't till the word was flashed up on the big screen that I got it. Duh. I'm slow sometimes. Well, a lot of the time. Later, Leigh wondered about the extra "a" that was attached. My thought: it was filmed in Argentina --> coexistir --> coexista as a singular mandate, no?
Leigh's observation was that the music was good, but she'd've been happier without the politics. She's much, much more conservative than I am. It always surprises me, because most of the expatriates I'm acquainted with fall on the liberal side of the spectrum.
