January's reading
Feb. 1st, 2008 12:27 pmThe month in reading? Surprisingly slow.
1. The Harlot’s Daughter by Blythe Gifford. (medieval) Very good book. B+
2. Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs. (urban fantasy) Keeper. A
3. Geek High by Piper Banks. (YA) DNF
4. The Spymaster’s Lady by Joanna Bourne (Regency/Napoleonic set historical). Loved the dialogue; didn’t really believe the ending. B+
5. Hell’s Belles by Jackie Kessler (urban fantasy) DNF
6. Price of Passion by Susan Napier (HP, category) I have a post brewing in the back of my mind about technical merit vs. pushing hot buttons because of this book. C
7. Three Wishes by Seressia Glass (contemporary) Mentioned here. C+
8. The Bad Girl by Mario Vargas Llosa (general fiction) Appreciated the beautiful language but not a book that I’ll be keeping or rereading. B+
9. Eye of the Beholder by Shari Shattuck (mystery) DNF
10. Rough Canvas by Joey W. Hill (erotic romance) A-
11. Dragon Bones by Patricia Briggs (fantasy) A
Re-reads
1. Persuasion by Jane Austen (classic) Reread in order to erase the ITV/PBS disaster.
2. Shadow Marriage by Penny Jordan (HP, category) It was located via HaBO; oh, what poor taste my 16 year old self had.
3. The Trouble With Valentine’s Day by Rachel Gibson (contemporary) Eh, the last RG book that I really liked.

Date: 2008-02-02 04:55 pm (UTC)I really liked The Trouble With Valentines Day as well. I think that was the only book of RG's where the heroine wasn't the asshat of the story. Prolly why I liked it.
Feb. reads are looking up. I can't wait for MB's Demon Night.

You read Dragon Bones!
Date: 2008-02-05 07:58 am (UTC)I can count on one hand how many books I read last month. I love Patricia Briggs. I still have two books of hers to read in my TBR from her back list (much older titles). I have The Spymaster's lady sitting on my nightstand. Sigh. I have too many books to read ahead of it, tho.

Re: You read Dragon Bones!
Date: 2008-02-05 03:17 pm (UTC)I'm slowing down on the reading, but not down to single digits yet. That may be coming. I just don't feel engaged by a lot of the books I've picked up lately.
