I loved Briggs's Iron Kissed.  I liked Moon Called and Blood Bound, but with this third book I have become a fangirl.  Must dig the Hurog books out of the TBR.

Having said that, I am seeing a continuity problem.  In Moon Called, Adam's wolf is described as being a silver so dark it was blue, darkening to black like a Siamese cat (p. 62).  In Blood Bound, he was silver and black (p. 235).  And now in Iron Kissed, he's black with silver tips, a reverse Siamese (p. 192).

Did I miss something explaining this change?

Eh, I am seeing this book talked about everywhere! I have been resisting because paranormals usually are not my thing. But now I don't know. Can you rate the violence for me? Like on a scale of 1-10? 1 being L.M. Montgomery and 10 being, oh, I don't know, Sweeney Todd? Or Kill Bill. Or Gangs of New York. (I can't think of any books that violent. Because I won't read them.) :)

8. It's dark and there's some violence toward women.

Depends...

Well, it actually depends on the if you want to know if the series as a whole or just the book. Iron Kissed itself would be rated a 7 or an 8. Mostly because of just one (BIG!) incident near the end. The series on a whole is more like a 5 or 6 because there is some violence but it doesn't really go into detail.

Dragon Blood is probably my favorite of Brigg's books. I read it without reading the prequel so it definitely can stand alone. Raven's Shadow is good as well and it's unique in that it centers around a pretty normal, except for a few hidden magical talents, fully functional family, however, the sequel was a disappointment.

I'm still two books behind in the Mercy series. Maybe, I'll move them up in light of the feedback the latest book has been generating.

Thanks for the info about Briggs's other books :)

After reading Iron Kissed, I went back and reread the other Mercy books. I'm not sure how much Briggs had planned in the series, but I'm fascinated to see how little bits of information tossed in "casually" earlier telegraph some of what happens in IK.

You are good, jmc as I didn't pay much attention to that. However, this from someone who got his name wrong in my review, sigh. Wasn't IK good? Loved it.

I loved it. I'm having a hard time moving on to another book, because I'm *sure* that it won't be nearly as good.
