Okay, yesterday I checked Amazon to see where my copy of All Through the Night and the new Halloween anthology including Eternity in Death were. Gone from my queue is where they were. Neither shipped nor pending. WTH? Did I delete that order because I didn't want to wait for the books to ship? Must've.
So I stopped at Borders on the way home and used my rewards points to pick up copies. Whee! Guess what I read last night? (Pssst! SB, you used then when you meant than on page 47, I'm pretty sure...otherwise that sentence doesn't make much sense.) And what I'll read today on the train ride home today. (Eve Dallas and vampires? I'm not so sure about that, but I have faith in La Nora, so I'll keep an open mind.)
And what did I receive this morning? An email notice that my Amazon order has shipped. I'm not sure where it was yesterday that it didn't appear in my account history. But whatever.
So now I'll have two copies. Since I will have read the copies I bought from Borders, it doesn't seem right or fair to return them. And returning to Amazon is a PITA. So instead, I'm going to give anyone who cares to comment the opportunity to have their own free (Free! FREE! As in: no charge, gratis!) copy of All Through the Night and Dead of Night.
Post a comment before 12pm EST on Friday, telling me which Troubleshooter book is your favorite and why, and also which In Death book is your favorite and why. I'll put every comment in a big bowl and pick a name. Actually, I'll use two bowls, one for the NR book and one for SB's.

Happy Halloween.
Date: 2007-10-31 04:35 pm (UTC)Apart from that, I enjoyed ATTN - it read as a fun novella, a nice coda to the story arc. And somehow, because it was a novella, I didn't mind the gathering of former characters, and all the pregnancies - both of which I normally dislike in romances.
And a nice physical object too - I wish all hardbacks were that size.
Still, at the moment I'm convinced that I'm not going to start with the next story arc - I feel I'd rather wait until that arc has finished before deciding whether or not to buy any of the forthcoming books. But who knows...
(Don't enter me for the draw, because I've got my SB - happiness is - and I gave up on the In Death books a while back.)
Re: Happy Halloween.
Date: 2007-10-31 07:47 pm (UTC)Exactly! I rolled my eyes a bit about everyone being pregnant simultaneously, but just let it go, since ATTN felt like a family reunion.
I'm not sure about the next story arc, either. The only remaining "original" character than I'm interested in is Jaquette, and I don't think his story is on the horizon. Zanella? Eh. Sophia and Decker? Meh.
Agree on the book's size, too :)

Date: 2007-10-31 09:28 pm (UTC)But hey, contest! Let me see, fave In Death would be Rapture, for the scene in which Eve says "I love you" first for the first time. And how they deal with what happens in that scene where Roarke drags Eve into a closet while under the influence of something. Close runner-ups are Naked (sentimental favourite, for being the first I read) and Witness, for the Agatha Christie homage.
As for the Brockmanns, probably Over the Edge, because I was interested in every single one of the plots (and Sam and Alyssa were especially smoking hot here!).
