More than meets the eye
Jul. 9th, 2007 07:54 pmSo, the Transformers movie? Rocked. Despite being a Michael Bay action movie. It's not like the script was nuanced or the score particularly original, the "romantic leads" had no chemistry, and the last half of the plot didn't make much sense. But there were beautiful cars and CGI effects.
General observations:
*Chevy ponied up some serious money for all that product placement
*The script on the Decepticon black & white ("to punish and enslave" instead of "to protect and serve" cracked me up)
*John Turturro is amazing, even when his character is an @ss
*The scenes with the Autobots "hiding" in the backyard and the parents upstairs was quite funny
*The self-reference to Armageddon? Lame
*The ending screams "sequel to come shortly"
*All those damn Autobots are totally voyeurs: they'll be watching? they were watching alright as Sam and Mikaela made out on Bumblebee's hood
Related to the movie-experience, not to the movie specifically:
*I hate all the commercials before the previews
*Recruiting must be way, Way, WAY down: there were ads for the Air Force and the Marines
*There wasn't a single preview for a movie I was interested in
*The theater will NOT be doing a midnight Tuesday night showing of Harry Potter, although they will be showing it and tickets can be purchased in advance
