Some people just have a way with words

I'm rereading Beguilement before I start Legacy. Bujold just has a way with words sometimes. There are several passages that caught my imagination, but about midway through the book, there were several *connected* ones that just made me sigh. (Sappy, I know.)

"I want to look at you."
"I'm no rose, Spark."
"Maybe not. But you make my eyes happy."

And later...

Dag suspected he needed to get better control of his stretching mouth, as well as of his sparking ground. A responsible, mature, respected patroller should not walk about grinning and glowing like some dementedly carved pumpkin. It was like to frighten the horses.

And still later...

He could not, could not run up and down the streets of Glassforge, leaping and shouting to the blue sky and the entire population, She says I make her eyes happy!

He really wanted to, though.

I stayed up till one last night finishing Legacy. Restraining myself womanfully from talking about it - I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.
