Oh, Demon Moon, how did I love you? Let me count the ways...

First, the heroine. I loved Savitri Murray. She was smart, she was strong, she was a heroine who was consistently drawn, whose development through the story was part and parcel of the plot.

Second, the hero. Colin Ames-Beaumont. A frivolous Regency fop turned vampire, he was utterly vain about his beauty and manners. But the vanity and superficiality cover a tortured hero who has earned his HEA.

Third, the world building and the plot, which go hand in hand. Vampires, demons, hell hounds, nosferatu, angels, Chaos, Caelum, their constructs and their relationships are worked into the story without infodumping, which is kind of amazing. I'm pretty sure that I missed some stuff and that if I do a reread, I'll catch all kinds of details that I didn't notice on the first read.

My main quibble about Demon Angel, the first book of this series, was the uneven pacing. I had no such problem with DM; in fact, my problem was getting real life to go away so I could keep reading.

ETA: You can *probably* understand everything that goes on in DM without reading Demon Angel or the short story Falling for Anthony in the Hot Spell anthology, but I would recommend reading either or both of them first, just so you won't miss pieces of the world building.

But really, wow, excellent book. In my top 10 for the year.

And the recipient of my extra copy of Demon Moon is....
Well, my number was 16. So [livejournal.com profile] jperceval's guess of 25 was closest. But I'm feeling generous and want to share the Demon Moon love, so in addition to mailing my extra copy out, I'm going to use the Amazon gift card I won at Meljean's to send a copy to Keishon, Marianne McA, and [livejournal.com profile] sarahf, who also guessed. Email me (address on my profile page) your preferred mailing address and I'll send copies your way.

Um, no, but it's certainly easily available at my local B&N where my mother works (30% off, baby!). ;)

Would you rather I sent you a copy of DA, instead?

Nope, I'm more likely to read both if you send me the one I WANT to read, rather than the one I should read first. Incentive. Weird, but true. Thanks!
