Courtesy of The Biochemist, Scholastic has posted the Harry Potter cover art for Deathly Hallows. Better/more information can be found at The Leaky Cauldron. Personally, I like the UK adult cover art best. Would it be too odd for me to order my copy from Amazon.co.uk?

UK covers

If I like a UK cover more than a US cover, I do purchase the UK cover. I did buy the adult edition of the last Harry Potter book from the UK, I think. Sometimes, the UK covers are better looking and three of Karin Slaughter's books I have on my shelf have come from the UK (along with the ARC's that I begged her publisher for). Don't recommend that. Begging that is. ---Keishon (this may post twice, sorry)

I've never contacted a publisher and asked for an ARC. Does begging work? :)

I often find that I prefer UK covers, but I never notice til after I've bought the US version. And I refuse to buy a second copy of the same book, except in rare instances (like Bujold's The Curse of Chalion, which I have in e-format, mmp and tpb).

You'd be surprised actually. With the UK publisher for Slaughter they sent me two: A FAINT COLD FEAR and FAITHLESS. I asked for her newest one and haven't heard anything back yet. I usually don't solicit unless it's by my very favorite authors :-) I had asked Monette but no answer as of yet. I'm not too proud to beg.---Keishon

Well, why not? As long as it doesn't take longer to arrive...

I hope they're getting the UK version here, like they did for book 6. Not so much because of the cover (though I do like the UK one better), but because I really hate the language "adaptation".

I haven't read the UK versions of the earlier books -- is the language adaptation that significant? Or is it a matter of style?

After watching Brit TV and reading UK pub'd books, the language difference isn't that noticeable to me...but I wonder if it is a problem, especially for the younger readers who were JKR's original audience?

Actually, I plan to purchase the whole boxed set of books from Amazon.uk once it's out. So I don't think it's odd at all! I've always loved the UK adult cover art best.

I was thinking about doing the same...but I'm not that much of a Harry fan, so I'm not sure that I want to shell out for a second copy of the books. The first 3 books didn't particularly wow me, so only books 4-7 are/will be on my bookshelf. We'll see -- maybe I'll love #7 so much that I'll *have* to have the boxed set.
