Today's Smart Bitch personal ad contest is making my fingers itch. I already have a title (woo hoo!) so I can't enter...although I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit that I won it by identifying Betrice Small's Blaze Wyndham, the book with the most purple prose I've ever read. :shrugs: Anyway, I think the answer to today's contest is

Lady Lenora Fordyce, Diana Brown's The Emerald Necklace.

I'm not 100% certain, but that's my guess and I'm sticking with it.

So how cheating would it be for me to leave this as a response, because I DON'T have a title?

I'm not sure of the degree of cheating...would the SB's care? I wouldn't. But it's just as well, becaues Sherri Cobb South's heroine from The Weaver Takes A Wife is what they were looking for. D'oh!

Nope. I knew the answer, and that's not it. I almost guessed Carla Kelly's Miss Milton Speaks Her Mind but I knew Miss Milton wasn't a duke's daughter. She does fall for a textile merchant though.

Comfort yourself in knowing you've already got a title, and it's based on a classic of purpleosity!
