Thirteen Things about JMC
13 Websites Saved as Favorites

1. ABC's Episode player. In case you missed the last few episodes of whichever of their hot new shows you like, you can go here. I usually watch Grey's Anatomy that way.

2. La Tienda. I have a weakness for chorizo...and marcona almonds...and turron. So I visit often. Plus, they send out an awesome monthly newsletter with recipes and other information. And their sales are pretty good, too.

3. The USDA Grad School. I'm thinking about taking some accounting classes through their evening program. I'm of two minds -- I'm not really interested in accounting...but it would be beneficial to my career. :sigh:

4. The White House Correspondents' Dinner with Stephen Colbert via Google Video. I actually prefer the Charlie Rose interview, but it has disappeared; my link doesn't work and I haven't been able to find it again on YouTube or Google. Anybody else think that having Rich Little as the guest speaker/roaster this year is a lame cop out? JMO.

5. The Independent. This paper came to my attention via The Biochemist and Democracy Now!

6. MIT's Open Course software. I have good intentions, but I never manage to get started. I need the structure of classes, with benchmarks. Studying on my own? Meh. I find other, more fun things to do and/or read.

7. Spanx. Which I learned of from the BBC What Not to Wear ladies. Trinny and Susannah are awesome, and so much cooler than Stacey and Clinton.

8. A couple of articles about studying languages abroad, including links to a language school in Chile and a general one for study in Spain.

9. The Ebookwise's website. Never know when I'll need another ebook.

10. Word Shoot. It's addictive. Don't go there unless you have an hour to waste.

11. About Language Blog. Check it out.

12. The Washington Post's travel blog. It just launched, but I like the travel chats and updates, so I'll see how it goes. I don't have any immediate travel plans, but I like to live vicariously by reading about other's trips.

13. An utterly decadent hot chocolate recipe. This is a recipe that is a treat: usually I use the powdered stuff, Cola Cao, from Tienda; if I'm feeling slightly more energetic, I'll use cocoa powder, sugar and salt. This recipe involves chopping and melting chocolate. Mmmm.

while I love and adore my Ebookwise, I try not to buy books from there, but direct from the publisher instead. Mostly because I'm familiar with their business practices, I guess (which don't favor either the publisher or the author making ANY money) and the fact that they're less than honest when customers ask why certain publishers aren't carried :(

I usually buy from ebookwise because it is convenient. I'm lazy.

I hadn't realized that their business practices were detrimental to author or publisher. Can you explain more?

Ah, Wordshoot is fun. I only wasted half an hour. Which is definitely what I should be doing at 2 am. :p

Jennie,
You are a stronger woman than I am -- I never play just one game or for a couple of minutes. :sigh: I suppose it is just as well that I've never gotten into video games or Xbox or Nintendo or Wii. I'd never get off the couch if I played those.

Ha! I'm not strong. If it hadn't been so late, I probably would've played longer. :)

I briefly had a Nintendo in college and got completely addicted to Mario Kart--I had to give it away bcuz it was so distracting.
