Okay, who in the Roddenberry family at Paramount thought it would be a good idea to let Hummer use the Star Trek theme for a commercial? Were they that hard up for cash?

The grammarian in me, mostly reclusive, cringes when I hear "Boldly go." Go boldly. Go Boldly, I say!

I correct the "boldly go" every time the mister watches TNG.

Down to their last dime?

Actually...

Gene Rodenberry and Majel Barret-Rodenberry (AKA Nurse Chapel on the original show) got completely screwed out of most Star Trek money. Paramount owns everything. Majel used to have a small company that made Star Trek costumes and jewelry and Paramount would sue her every time they got a new corporate counsel.

So who in the Paramount mega-entertainment-conglomerate thought it was a good idea?

I had a conversation with a Trekkie friend the other day who told me about the Paramount ownership. I should've updated my post at the time but was too lazy. The info about Majel Barret-Rodenberry is new though. Thanks!
