Thirteen Things about JMC
13 Things I've Bought Lately (Minus Holiday Gifts)

1. Tortas de aceite by Ines Rosales in Sevilla from Tienda.com. They are these round crisps, about the size of a small soft taco, flavored with olive oil and anise. Mmmm.

2. Nocilla. It's like Nutella, except half chocolate hazelnut, half vanilla.

3. Half price holiday greeting cards. I had to go to Target to drop off film for developing and found the 50% holiday stuff. Man, it looked like a pack of locusts had been through the store. And when did Target start carrying Ralph Lauren stuff?

4. A pea green scarf. I collect scarves. I have many more than I will ever wear regularly. But this one is soft and fluffy, but not bulky. I skipped the matching gloves, since I lose gloves easily, and the hat because I don't wear hats unless I'm outside during a blizzard.

5. A variety of M/M ebooks from Torquere Press and Samhain. [livejournal.com profile] sarahf gave me some recommendations, as did a couple of other bloggers.

6. Hershey Estates Almond scented lotion. It smells like amaretto, I swear. I could become a huffer of this scent. Well, not really, but I love putting it on because I smell delicious.

7. Elizabeth de la Vega's United States v. George W. Bush

8. A bottle of OPI nail polish in a sparkly red-orange. They have the goofiest names for this stuff.

9. Brown flip flops with polka dots. Do I need these? No. But for $1, I couldn't resist.

10. An Obama-Colbert '08 bumpersticker. For The Biochemist.

11. A tube of Hob Nobs and a packet of Tim Tams. The Biochemist received some Tim Tams from an Aussie e-pal and has been searching for them high and low. Little did we know (til I checked Wikipedia) that they are sold as Arnott's cookies in the US, not Tim Tams. Ack! The Chemist looked right over them at World Markets because they had the wrong name.

12. A new reading journal. I'm quite picky about these, having learned through experience which styles work for me. First, must be spiral bound. The hard bound ones look nice, but are too unbendy. Not a full 8.5x11, either; about 6x9 works best -- not too large or too small. And I like best when it has dividers. My last journal had colored paper on the tabs, so I could use the different sections for different things -- reading list, to buy list, to look for list, note taking, jotting down SBD ideas, etc.

13. Russian textbook and accompanying materials. :sigh: The same textbook I used in college, except a later edition.

I'm picky about my writing notebook too. Like you, it has to be spiral bound (you're right, the hardcover kind is not bendy enough) and about 6X9 inches is just right.

My TT's up.
