Wasn't the most recent one just released?

I must confess -- I get postcards from Evanovich still, as the hang over from back when I still liked Stephanie Plum and lusted for Ranger.  Well, I still lust for Ranger but Stephanie isn't funny anymore, just pathetic.  But I received a post card with the next title (which escapes me) and a note that a "between the numbers" book will be released next month. Meh.

I hadn't heard about this. I do still like the Plum books a lot, but I'm not sure about this one. The blurb on her website doesn't sound very interesting--something about Stephanie playing matchmaker. And it's $20 and 160 pages. :( Sounds too much like a cheap money-making ploy.

You think Stephanie is pathetic? I think the thing that keeps me from agreeing with you is that time doesn't really seem to move forward much in the series. I think about 2 years has gone by in all 12 books.

Well, yes.

Jennie, I feel kind of harsh saying it, but yes. Because if the average person was involved in a job that included physical danger, like bond enforcement, they would either learn to use a gun and get in shape, or find another job. Stephanie doesn't -- not because she isn't capable, imo, but because she doesn't want to or can't be bothered; instead she relies on others for her physical safety. Stepping back from the BEA arena, wouldn't the average newbie employee have picked up on the needed skills after two years on the job? Either that, or been fired.

Actually, you asked me a good question and I may have an idea for an SBD essay. Thanks!

I did enjoy the last on which was 12 but after hearing that Evanovich has no plans to have Stephanie pick a man or settle down or grow for that matter pretty much ended my need to read anymore books by her. I guess when I need a good laugh I can re-read the older ones. *sigh* another author bites the dust. 20 bucks for 160 pages - yeah, that's not for love of her fans.

This is exactly why I think Stephanie is pathetic. Or maybe pitiful is a better word. For me, the protagonist/hero/heroine of a series has to change in some way, or the series gets stale.
