Thanksgiving and Black Friday

It all started with the birthday cake. Well, birthday brownies. It is acceptable to have cake for breakfast on your birthday, but I had none, so instead we had birthday brownies for breakfast.

The Biochemist gives the best gifts. Queer as Folk -- the UK version! And a t-shirt that reads "Republicans for Voldemort". And a collection of magnets for my cabinets. I have her a copy of a Barbapapa book I found online (we both loved those books as kids), Mapping the World of Harry Potter, a variety of funky socks, and a magnet that reads "You can't handle the truthiness!" We were both pleased, I think.

Then we headed up to Mom's where we ate Thanksgiving dinner. Regular dinner, heavy on the dessert, since relatives came over for dessert. Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, banana cream pie, pumpkin gooey butter cake, hummingbird cake.

This morning I participated in Black Friday for the first time ever. Now I can say I've done it. Meh. Not worth the effort, IMO.

On the book front, I've read Shana Abe's The Smoke Thief, which I loved.

Hey, so your birthday's on Thanksgiving? Wait, no, Thanksgiving falls on different dates every year right? So it's just this year... or maybe once every few years? And now I've succeeded in confusing myself trying to calculate every how many years they fall on the same date. Anyway, never mind, happy belated birthday! :-D

Thanks for the birthday wishes! It falls on Thanksgiving every few years. But even if it doesn't, H&I visit each other and the holiday becomes an excuse to consume vast quantities of birthday cake, ddrink wine and exchange fun gifts :)

We were born the day after Thanksgiving, very early and unexpected. Mom thought we were indigestion at first, brought on by too much turkey and stuffing!
