Maili started it, then Rosario did it. Since I read curiously what was in each of their bags, it seems only fair to empty out my own.

No photo, because my only camera is the old fashioned kind, requiring that film be developed. I know, way behind the times. But I use it only on vacations, so I haven't been motivated to buy a new one.

Back to the meme:

*wallet: it is old, old leather, crammed full of coins and receipts and a little bit of cash.

*bundle of envelopes: this week's mail that I haven't sorted. There were a couple of bills to pay today, so I swiped the bundle off the table and grabbed...

*checkbook. I don't use the bank that is stamped onto the old, soft leather case, but I like it, so I keep using it.

*Ceremony in Death: I'm still re-reading the series in an effort to break out of my reading slump.

*e-bookwise reader. In case I feel like the slump is over. It's got lots of unread books just waiting for me.

*Ahlan wa Sahlan. Textbook still in the bag from class.

*stenopad: full of notes from class.

*Hawaiian Islands lip balm: the label has come off, but it is citrus-scented and works wonderfully.

*a variety of pens and pencils, some with caps, some without, with varying degrees of sharpness

*empty glasses case, which is disturbing, since I thought the glasses (for driving and computer work) were in there. Where are they, then?

*MARC pass and crumpled Metro fare card

*comb, emery board, tissues and tampon in little plastic baggie. You never know when you might need any of them.

*cell phone that needs to be charged.

*menu/order form from Patisserie Poupon, the French bakery in town. I'm ordering one of their William Pear chocolate tortes as birthday cake while The Biochemist and The Chemist are in town.

*dangly amethyst earrings -- I thought I lost these! I couldn't find them anywhere! Yay!

That's a lot of stuff. My only excuse is that the bag in question is actually a tote bag. I need to be able to shove an umbrella and my lunch into the bag I carry, so a pocketbook or purse doesn't really work for me. Regular handbag items kept in zippered compartment, other stuff out in pockets/sections that don't zip.

Wow, that was really much more information about me than you really wanted, wasn't it?

You found your earrings? Yay! So it's worth doing this meme, eh? :D Thanks for doing it as it cheered me up no end. :) Maili x

2 books, the ebookwise and a steno pad? I suspect yours is probably a bit bigger than mine ;-)

some reading suggestions

Thank you for the reading suggestions - I put some of them on hold from the library. We seem to have a lot of similar tastes - I love L.M. Montgomery (I have 29 of her books, some of them collections of short stories) and Novik's dragon books. You might try Elizabeth Kerner's dragon trilogy that starts with Song in the Silence. Sharon Shinn is quite good - Heart of Gold (male and female role reversal in a SciFi setting) and Mystic and Rider. I liked Linnea Sinclair's Accidental Goddess and Finders Keepers. And for something completely different, the manga Fruits Basket is quite funny with lots of romantic tension and good character development.

Venita,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried Linnea Sinclair, with mixed results, but have Accidental Goddess TBR still. Hadn't heard of Elizabeth Kerner.
Cheers,
