I'm kind of amazed that my email to Sarah and Candy at Smart Bitches has taken on a life of its own. I emailed, thinking I'd probably get a response and maybe a short post about attitudes toward romance readers. Sarah ranted. Many readers posted, pro and con. Now there are pieces in the NY Times and the Washington Post, and it appears to be getting some other local attention (blogger DCist). Didn't think it would strike such a nerve or generate that much interest or discussion. Thanks to sarahf for suggesting that I email in the first place.

I saw that! And I think it's high time us romance readers started demanding respect. I've read authors from all across the spectrum in my reading career and I have to say that I find romance writers some of the best of the best and it is more than annoying that the genre doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Hah! I'm so glad I suggested it! ;) I was thinking "I have to post to JMC and say, "OMG, isn't this cool!?!"" on the way home from school today. So, OMG, isn't this cool?! Way to go.
