A couple of random things...
Jan. 9th, 2006 08:26 am...while I get organized to post my Top Ten list for 2005.
1. I would not recommend Peppermint Stick ice cream to any ice cream aficionado. Bought a half gallon back in November on impulse, never opened it. This weekend, as I made hot cocoa, I discovered that I was out of milk. I believe I've mentioned already that hot cocoa requires milk in order to taste right, haven't I? Anyway, no milk, no dried milk, not even any creamer of any sort. But low and behold, a half gallon of this ice cream in the freezer. So I added a scoop to my hot cocoa, which was then suitably creamy and slightly mint-flavored. Two thumbs up. My mistake was then eating a scoop of the ice cream. Uh, no, won't be buying another half gallon of that stuff any time soon.
2. My reading resolution: reduce the TBR mountain. I never used to have a TBR pile. Literally, the only things TBR in my home were the library books I checked out. But now I probably have approaching 200 books to be read, mostly because I've been bingeing on library sales and yard sales. So, other than Memory in Death and J.R. Ward's new book, no new books until I've diminished the pile.
3. As I watch the first season of Lost on DVD, I don't get the obsession with Sawyer. Just about everyone in my office loves him (in fact, one woman asked me to keep an eye out for him while I was in Hawai'i over Thanksgiving), but he leaves me cold. Jack and Sayid and Jin, on the other hand, are quite attractive, I think.
4. I'm pretty slow when it comes to developing photographs. I've only just had a roll of photos taken in April done. Went to a conference in southern Arizona, held at a resort just a few miles north of the Mexican-American border. Beautiful country, huge sky, but a little brown and alien to my eastern eyes. Here are two of the better photos (keeping in mind that I'm a poor photographer).

Date: 2006-01-10 12:12 pm (UTC)Bad boys (in fiction and in TV/movies) generally don't appeal to me, because the idea that the love of a good woman is all anyone needs to change bothers me. You change 'cause you want to for yourself, not for anyone else.
Still, I get that Sawyer makes a lot of women's hearts flutter :)

Date: 2006-01-10 09:54 am (UTC)Thank you! I thought I was the only one. I think the actor's good-looking enough, but I'm not much of a bad boy fan, so Sawyer the character doesn't really appeal. Plus, that accent. I've no idea how "real" it is, but it's a total turn-off for me.
Jack and Jin (hee! no pun intended): ho-hum. But Sayid now... yum!!
Re: Sawyer
Date: 2006-01-10 12:17 pm (UTC)I don't know if Sawyer's accent is real or not. It sounds generically southern to me. The so-called "Southern drawl" varies greatly by region and socio-economic status, like all accents, and I can't place his.
I watched "Bride and Prejudice" just for Naveen Andrews, and only wish that he'd played a larger part in the movie. He was the Balraj/Bingley character.

Date: 2006-01-30 09:35 pm (UTC)Oh, you know what? A friend managed to get the first 10 episodes of the second season on DVD (I will NOT ask her where she got them, LOL!). A group of us will be getting together once a week to watch them. At last, I'll be able to read Lost posts online with no fear of spoilers!
Re: Sawyer
Date: 2006-01-31 01:00 pm (UTC)I envy you the viewing of the beginning of the second season. I'm going to have to wait until the episodes are re-aired this summer, then I'll be caught up. Happy watching!
