I've halted End of Iraq, because I need to read another book and return it to the library before it becomes overdue: Empire's Workshop by Greg Grandin. He writes about America's use of Latin America as a testing ground for economic and political theory (and gain), warfare, etc. Then goes on to write about how the political and economic theory that supported that interference (export free market capitalism and democracy, but with emphasis on the capitalism and industry if democracy was too hard) grew into the political theory that led America into Iraq. It's kind of fascinating and frightening all at once.

I watched the first disc of the first season of Queer As Folk last night. I'm enjoying the show, but not liking Brian so much. Known too many straight guys like him to be entertained by the gay TV version, however hot or charming. More than that, while I find Michael endearing, his inability to let go of Brian and his 14 year old fantasy causes the loss of some respect for his character, IMO.
