I posted yesterday for SBD over at WordPress, writing a little bit about Chris Owen's Prove It and genre labels/expectations.

Sam Waterston is going to be King Lear, if you're interested in seeing Jack McCoy as the mad, blind king.

My DirecTv receiver is dead.  I may have killed it by leaving it on accidentally.  Or maybe it died of old age (8+ years).  Or perhaps a power surge during the electrical storm last week?  The tv is fine, but the receiver is kaput.  The debate now is whether to go subscription-free, relying on Hulu and YouTube and streams.  Sports and BBC America are weighing heavily against it though.

We cut our DirecTV usage to the bare minimum last year because we were so frustrated with the price/viewing ratio; we went to the cheapest "family" plan, which is basically for Christians w/little kids. But I really missed the sports channels, BBC America, and even TBS/TNT. So we went back. Now we've cut all the movie channels except HBO, but we still have HD and the sports pack (for soccer mainly). It's very frustrating but if you want sports it's hard to do it any other way.

This is an interesting post on the topic: http://bit.ly/nz4FqC

Thanks for the link. I've read similar articles, but none with specific numbers. For now, sports programming will keep me a DTV customer, but I can see no-pay tv as a possibility in my future.
