What the hell?
Nov. 1st, 2006 07:36 amAfter a monumental amount of cleaning over the weekend, my downstairs is mostly presentable and clear of whatever kind of dust was generated by the kitchen reno. Except this morning I opened a little used cabinet, which was freaking closed during the reno, and had a shower of dust fall out. All the stuff inside is coated. How the hell did the dust get inside the freaking cabinet?
On the book front, I'm almost through the MacKade series, courtesy of Rosario.
On the book cover front: feeling nostalgic, I ordered a copy of Damnation Reef, a Caribbean set historical sort of gothic that I read as a teenager and loved. Yeah, it'll probably suck now that I read it as an adult, but nostalgia had me in its grip so I shelled out the whopping $1.00 plus postage for it. :shrugs: And it arrived yesterday, in paperback...with a totally 70s cover. The hero is wearing a button down collared shirt and blue jeans and the heroine an equally 70s outfit. And they are rolling around in the surf - ick, denim and salt water and sand, talk about chaffing. Except the book is set (I think) in the ~1850s. So even 30 years ago, art departments weren't paying attention to the contents of books when coming up with covers.
