I watched Andre Agassi's final match at Flushing Meadows today. It felt like the end of an era. Yes, Andy Roddick and James Blake and others are playing, but Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras were tennis to me for years. ::sigh::

The end of another type of era: I returned Mary Balogh's Simply Love to the library after being bored, bored, bored by it. Such a disappointment. I skipped all but one of the Slightly books and the earlier Simply book, but had high hopes for Sydnam Butler's book. Maybe my hopes were too high, but I was so looking forward to reading about Sydnam. It reminded me a very great deal of Heyer's A Civil Contract; I felt like it ended with a settled marriage between friends who respected each other, but little else. Not what I'm looking for in a romance novel. Plus, too many Bedwyns and other characters whose backstories were probably relevant but which I didn't know. C-.

Finished Nora Roberts' Morrigan's Cross. I don't know why everyone was getting all twittery about La Nora writing a paranormal with vampires. Yes, the vampires are new, but she's been writing paranormals, with her witches in trilogies and in categories, for years now. I liked the world building in MC, but didn't really care about the romance/relationship. B-.
