March's books read

My book slump seems to be intermittent -- I read a book or two that is okay, then hit a patch of stinkers, which I follow by re-reads. :shrugs:
The count is down, in comparison to last month and this time last year.
This month's reading:
1. The Mighty Hunter by Michelle Pillow. (paranormal/fant) DNF.
2. Lover Revealed by JR Ward. (paranormal) B-
3. Her Secret Life by Gwynne Forster. C-, which prompted an SBD post on Mary Sue heroines.
4. Food for the Gods by Camille Anthony. (historical fantasy, erotica, ebook) DNF. Bored by painful-sounding sex.
5. The Melinoe Project by DL King. (erotica, ebook) DNF. Not sexy, not even stroke material. Maybe a male sub would enjoy it more? Would've liked more POV from female characters. Attempt to include romance was spotty.
6. Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead. (paranormal) C-, reviewed here.
7. Red Hot Reunion by Bella Andre. (contemporary) DNF. Reviewed it here.
8. Roughhousing by Laura Baumbach. (m/m, ebook) B-
9. A Private Hunger by Sean Michael. (m/m, ebook) DNF. Squicked by lead calling lover Pet. Lying and hiding, using excuse of paranormalness to isolate the other hero? Struck me as classic signs of an abuser.
10. The Leopard Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt. (european historical) B-, which I blogged about earlier.
11. What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7? by Schoen, et al. (speculative) B
12. The Marriage Possession by Helen Bianchin. (category) B
13. Stranger in My Arms by Rochelle Alers. (contemporary) C, which I blogged about here.
14. The Mistress Deception by Susan Napier. (category) B/B+
15. Just About Sex by Ann Christopher. C+. This is the second Christopher book I've read; while I like her voice, I'm not impressed by her heroines, which strike me as supercilious, or the way they are fixed/saved/loosened up by the heroes. And the heroes, meh. I liked Alex from JAS more than Justus from Risk. The two books have gorgeous covers, FWIW.
Books I reread:
16. A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold.
17. Dark Lover. Picked this up to reread after reading the most recent release. I like the heroine of this book slightly more after rereading.
18. Lover Eternal. Still not thrilled with this book.
19. Lover Awakened. Maybe my favorite of the series.
20. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JKR.
So, out of twenty books:
5 DNF
5 re-reads
6 B- to B+ grades
4 C- to C+ grades
Which I guess is a normalish distribution? I dunno, I feel like I haven't read any romance novels that have wowwed! me in a while. I'm reading a couple of nonfiction books, but slowly, since reading them in large chunks pisses me off and raises my blood pressure to dangerous levels. But I'm still looking for a new (or just new to me) piece of genre fiction that blows me away.
