Chains of Folly by Roberta Gellis
I've been looking forward to Gellis's fourth book in her Magdelene la Batarde medieval mystery series. It was put on hold a long time ago because the publisher didn't see high enough sales figures. So she's found another publisher, Five Star. Cool.
Chains of Folly was released April 30th. I just checked Amazon -- no new copies available, but I could buy a used copy from Amazon Marketplace for $34. Checked half.com -- another used copy for $29. BN.com -- available at the regular sticker price of $24.95. I didn't expect to find a copy discounted, but I'm a little surprised that new copies aren't available at Amazon and that "used" new copies are selling for above the cover price elsewhere. If the demand for the book was high enough to warrant paying over the cover price so soon after the initial release, will the publisher notice? I wonder how large the initial print run was.
