Thing that still puzzles me - when the story of his illness first broke, the BBC radio bulletin mentioned as background that 'Russian spies are the busiest in the world'. How do they know? Is there a spy productivity league table somewhere? Perhaps Russian spies are just poor at their jobs - maybe French spies have infiltrated every organisation through to the Girl Guides, but have done it so well that nobody knows...
