I thought GG was a B read. I liked the heroine, the hero, and the action/pacing. I had the same feeling about the world building -- as if I had been dropped into a universe with backstory that had been related elsewhere. I also thought that the book felt incomplete, as if a sequel should be forthcoming. The relationship was settled, but the action/adventure was left hanging.
I was a little more tolerant of what I considered to be flaws in GG because it was the first Sinclair book that I read, and I do like her voice. But when I saw them repeated in a second book, which I read fairly close after GG, my tolerance diminished.
Of course, someone who reads more science fiction than I do may have a different perspective on the world building.
